Hebrew Program

Students learn to read, write, and converse in modern Hebrew through daily lessons. We also teach them to read and chant biblical Hebrew. Using the Tal Am Ivrit b’Ivrit (Hebrew immersion) curriculum, younger students learn the aleph-bet, holidays, and Torah, while the older students solidify and build their skills. Our program develops their ability to analyze and understand the meaning behind prayers and the weekly Torah portions while also teaching them to participate in daily activities while using modern Hebrew language.

Spanish Program

Lerner is one of the few elementary schools in the Triangle that offers a dual language program. In addition to Hebrew, Spanish is an optional language to study.  Students opting to learn Spanish will do so in an immersive environment three days a week from 3:00 – 4:00 PM during extended day school periods.  Students are tracked by age and/or skill level with a focus on oral language acquisition and literacy (reading and writing) as secondary skills.  Spanish is offered at an additional nominal cost.
