Welcome back to school everyone!
It was such a pleasure for me to stand at the front door and welcome our students back into Lerner Monday morning. It has been two and a half months since school ended in June, but it seems much longer. While the building is rarely quiet even in the summer, the school seemed so empty without our students. It was heartening to see so many smiling faces filling the classrooms and hallways on Monday. I hope your child was thrilled to be back at Lerner and had a wonderful first day of school!
Over the summer, I had a chance to step away from the everyday hustle and reflect on the past year as we finalized plans for this year. One thing that I thought about this summer was my connections with our students and families. Last year I spent more time talking with parents and students one-on-one and not as much time interacting with the classes. For this year, I have set aside more time to spend in the classrooms with our students and teachers. In addition, I have blocked off Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm, for parent and family open office hours. This is time I have set aside for parents to drop in to speak with me. If the open office hours do not work with your schedule, just stop by the front desk to arrange a time that better fits your schedule.
As we kick off the 2019-2020 school year, I am excited about all of the possibilities that a new school year brings. The teachers have so many exciting lessons and projects planned for this year and we are excited to watch our students grow each day. I am thrilled to share the 2019-2020 school year with your family. Thank you for being a part of the Lerner community.
L’shalom,
Beth Null, Head of School
